RACV Road Rules
Created while working with Struck & Spink
RACV or The Royal Automobile Club of Victoria, is a motoring club and mutual organisation that supports its members emergency roadside assistance, car and home insurance, home assist, travel services & car loans.
RACV updated their visual communication strategy by incorporating animation videos in their website as they summarise the top rules you should know about driving in Victoria safely.

Roundabouts
Roundabouts can be big, small or multi-lane, but all of them require a cautious approach. The most important thing to remember is when you’re entering a roundabout, you must give way to any vehicle already in the roundabout and any tram that is entering or approaching the roundabout.
Bicycles
Market research shows nearly half of RACV’s members cycle, with one in five doing so at least once a week! It’s important we keep each other safe on the road whether we’re travelling on two wheels or riding in four.
Merging
There are two key rules you should be aware of when it comes to merging, and it all comes down to the line markings.
Traffic Lights
Traffic signals run on a sophisticated system, called SCATS. This constantly assesses how many vehicles are travelling through the intersection in each direction. The system then adjusts the length of the green light to compensate. This ensures queuing and delays are minimised.
U-turns
In Victoria, you’re allowed to make a U-turn at intersections with or without traffic signals and at breaks in the median, unless there’s a ‘no U-turn’ sign. A ‘no right turn’ sign also prohibits a U-turn.
